Stahl Coatings and Fine Chemicals (Suzhou) Co., Ltd
Suzhou Stahl Project (Stahl Coatings and Fine Chemicals (Suzhou) Co., Ltd.), located at No. 1 Yong’an Road, Huqiu District, Suzhou—a city renowned for its scenic beauty—is a forward-looking and innovative laboratory expansion project. It is specifically designed to create an efficient, modern, and fully functional laboratory space. The project not only reflects a deep understanding of research environments, but also integrates advanced architectural concepts and technologies, aiming to provide a platform that is both safe and flexible for scientific research activities.
Project Overview
·Project Type: Laboratory expansion
·Address: No. 1 Yong’an Road, Huqiu District, Suzhou
·Building Area: 900 square meters; 9 structural bays in the longitudinal direction with a column spacing of 5.4 meters; 5 structural bays in the transverse direction; total length 43.2 meters, width 20.7 meters; one above-ground floor.
·Structural Features: H-shaped steel columns and beams are adopted. This design not only enhances the overall structural stability of the building, but also optimizes the spatial layout, allowing flexible internal partitioning and adjustment of the laboratory spaces.
·Exterior Wall Materials: 50 mm sandwich panels are used. This material provides excellent thermal insulation, effectively controlling indoor temperature and creating a stable experimental environment for the laboratories. Its lightweight characteristics also reduce the building’s self-weight, which is beneficial for foundation design.
·Roof Structure: A composite system of metal deck and cast-in-place concrete is adopted, ensuring sufficient load-bearing capacity while achieving good waterproofing and durability, thereby guaranteeing the long-term operational safety of the laboratory.
·Special Design: The project features two single-slope roof monitors. This distinctive design not only enhances natural ventilation and daylighting, but also provides additional vertical space for the installation of large-scale laboratory equipment or the execution of specialized experimental operations. At the same time, it offers researchers a more open visual field and a better working atmosphere.
Project Highlights
·Flexibility and Expandability: The use of an H-shaped steel structure allows the laboratory space to be rapidly reconfigured or expanded in response to research needs, meeting the requirements of different stages of scientific work.
·Environmental Protection and Energy Efficiency: The combination of sandwich-panel exterior walls and a high-performance roofing system effectively reduces energy consumption, aligns with green building standards, and demonstrates the project’s commitment to environmental protection.
·Research-Friendly Design: The roof monitor design improves the quality of the natural indoor environment, while also stimulating researchers’ creativity and work efficiency, creating an ideal physical setting for scientific research.
·Safety: Throughout the design process, full consideration has been given to laboratory safety requirements, including but not limited to fire protection, explosion prevention, and chemical storage, ensuring that research activities can be conducted safely and reliably.
