A column grid design balancing rigidity and flexibility, integrating showroom openness with functional adaptability: the ground-floor showroom adopts custom V-shaped steel columns with large-angle inclined load-bearing design. Each single column covers a wide support range, achieving a column grid spacing of 8.1 meters, minimizing visual obstruction from columns and creating an open, barrier-free showroom space. This layout accommodates BMW vehicle display circulation as well as vehicle access and dispatch. The second and third floors transition to regular straight steel columns, balancing structural stability with zoning requirements for offices, service workshops, and parking garages. A single column system supports multiple uses, enabling functional switching across different floors and scenarios.
Modular collaborative design achieving seamless structural integration: the core steel structure module is standardized at 1.35 m × 1.35 m. Steel column grids, horizontal steel members, reinforced concrete bidirectional ribbed slab systems, and façade curtain wall modules are precisely aligned. Connection tolerances between components are strictly controlled within minimal limits, ensuring uniform load transfer while delivering clean, coordinated architectural façades and interior spatial lines. This approach aligns with BMW’s minimalist and premium brand identity and simultaneously improves construction and assembly efficiency.
Steel–concrete composite load-bearing system balancing structural rigidity and spatial quality: a hybrid system combining steel structure and reinforced concrete is employed. Horizontally, bidirectional reinforced concrete ribbed slabs ensure floor flatness and load-bearing capacity; vertically, steel columns serve as the primary load-bearing elements, integrating the stability of concrete structures with the lightweight advantages of steel. This system satisfies the large-span, large-volume requirements of the showroom while supporting heavy loads from maintenance equipment and vehicle parking on the second and third floors, providing ample structural safety redundancy.
