Boral silo steel platform and walkway steel structure successfully delivered

I. Project Overview

This project is the fabrication of the steel platform and walkway steel structure for the Boral silo. The client is Boral Concrete Ltd. of Australia. The project is located in Sydney, Australia, and the delivery mode is Ex-Work (EXW). During the design phase, the contractor will refine the design based on the Tekla model provided by the client. The deliverables include complete steel structural components such as the silo's steel platform, walkways, steps, steel grating, and railings. The fabrication period is 30 days.

II. Project Scope and Technical Standards

1. Scope of Work: Detailed design of drawings, procurement of raw materials, component fabrication, anti-corrosion coating, packaging, and delivery/transportation coordination.

2. Fabrication Precision: The dimensions and negative deviations of the assembled welded beams and columns must meet national standards; weld quality must be up to standard; the assembly precision of platforms, gratings, railings, and stairwells must meet the requirements of the drawings and on-site installation.

3. Anti-corrosion Coating: Jotun brand paint system; except for steel grating walkway panels and grating stair panels, all other components shall comply with:

1. Primer: Two-component epoxy zinc-rich paint, dry film thickness 100μm

2. Topcoat: Acrylic polyurethane paint, dry film thickness 60μm

3. Total paint film thickness ≥160μm; paint color conforms to BS676 standard, railings shall comply with color code Y14.4.

4. Packaging and Delivery: Components are assembled and packaged in a reasonable manner according to their assembly relationship. The dimensions of guardrails, steps, and platform gratings are all guaranteed to be accurate. After the production is completed, a packing list is prepared, and the supplier cooperates with the client for container loading and is responsible for the loading of goods into the container.

• Component Welding and Forming Stage

The components are welded using a full penetration welding process, resulting in aesthetically pleasing, full, and uniform welds free from defects such as porosity and slag inclusions. After the main structure is assembled and welded, it is aligned using tooling and jacks to ensure that the overall dimensions and straightness meet design and national standards, guaranteeing the accuracy of subsequent installation.

• Finished Component Painting and Lifting Stage

After the components are coated with anti-corrosion paint, the color is uniform and the paint film thickness meets standards. Specialized lifting equipment is used for overall lifting. Vulnerable parts such as the yellow guardrails are properly protected and wrapped to prevent damage during lifting, ensuring the integrity of the finished product.
